Steampunk Flying Machine

Sam 2016 BD

This birthday card is my maiden voyage into the mixed media world!

The background was created by spreading Art Basics 3-D Gloss Gel through stencils onto a 6″ x 8″ piece of Artist’s Loft Canvas Board.  The stencils used were Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Bricked Layering Stencil, Dreamweaver’s Steampunk Clock Stencil, and Dreamweaver’s Gears Stencil.

After it dried completely, I added color to the background with Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo, Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Inks.

The focal image is a cool digital stamp from Make It Crafty: Steampunk Flying Machine. It was printed on Gina K. Designs white 120 lb. Pure Luxury Cardstock and colored with Copic Markers.

I tore a rough border around the image and used Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Inks on the edges.  I then glued this onto a piece of black cardstock and cut a narrow border around it with scissors.  This was then attached to the canvas board with foam tape.

I adhered two Tim Holtz Ideology Sprocket Gears and a metal clock face from the Recollections Metal Embellishment set with Art Basics Soft Gloss Gel.

This whole piece was then attached to a 6-1/4″ x 8-1/4″ card base with Scor-Tape.
