Tropical Skies Birthday Card

Tropical Window Card.JPG

Here is another fun window card using Elizabeth Craft Designs Fitted Frames 1 – Lace Rectangles #1061 to create the window frame.

The main image features stamps from the Gina K. Designs stamp set Framescape – Tropical Skies by Theresa Momber.  I stamped the sun with Colorbox Canary and Caliente Pigment ink, then masked it to color in the sky with Colorbox Canary, Caliente, and Scarlet pigment inks and the water with Stampabilities Baby Blue and Royal Blue pigment inks and Colorbox Ocean pigment ink. I removed the mask and blended a little Colorbox Ocean ink into the sun’s reflection and also added Copic markers B95 and B97 at the horizon line.

The bird and trees were stamped with Stampin’ Up Basic Black and Wink of Stella was used to add a little glimmer to the water and sky.

I used Heartfelt Creations Wildwood Florals stamps and dies to create the flowers then colored them with Colorbox Canary and Scarlet pigment inks and added a dusting of fine glitter to make them sparkle.

I created additional embellishments with various dies, including Memory Box 99722 Cheerful Crabs, 99229 Garland Greenery, and 99386 Tiny Turtles.  I also used both Lawn Fawn and Impression Obsession Palm Tree dies.  Finally, the vine at the top of the frame was created with one of the Heartfelt Creations Delicate Border dies (#HCD1-7118).

All of the patterned paper is from Heartfelt Creations Tropical Paradise Paper Collection.

Tropical Window Card Inside

The inside of the card features more dies from Memory Box, Elizabeth Craft Designs, Lawn Fawn, and Reverse Confetti as well as another stamped image from the Gina K. Designs Framescape Tropical Skies set.

Tropical Window Card Back

A plain backside just didn’t seem right, so I created a little scene with Heartfelt Creations Tropical Paradise paper and a few stickers and die cuts.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and have a fun, crafty week!

Heartfelt Creations Tropical Paradise Window Card

Tropical Paradise Window Card

This fun birthday card was made almost entirely from the Heartfelt Creations Tropical Paradise Paper Collection – everything from the main card image to the vine and even the palm tree tops were cut from this paper. I have to say, I do LOVE the colors and imagery contained in this paper collection!

The flowers were stamped with the Heartfelt Creations Arianna Blooms set HCPC-3608 onto white cardstock and colored with Memento Lilac Posies & Danube Blue inks then cut out with the Arianna Blooms dies HCD1-748.

The leaves behind the flowers were cut from the Tropical Paradise paper with Elizabeth Craft Designs Pair of Leaves 1 #1314. The Celebrate die (#1286) is also from Elizabeth Craft Designs and was cut out of black cardstock.

The vine at the top of the card was cut with the Heartfelt Creations Delicate Border Dies HCD1-7118. This versatile die set is one that I have been using a lot lately!

The palm trees are from Lawn Fawn’s Palm Trees die set.  (This set also comes with a very cute crab die, by the way, that wasn’t used here.) As mentioned before, the tree tops were cut from the Tropical Paradise paper and the trunks and coconuts were cut from Stampin’ Up Kraft paper then colored with Copic Markers E23 and E18.

It is hard to tell from the photo, but I added dimension to the window frame by cutting four 1″ x 4″ pieces of black cardstock, scoring and folding them in half to form four 1/2″ x 4″ pieces, and then gluing two on each side.  I saw this great tip demonstrated on a blog a few months ago and was pleased at how well it worked!

As you can see below, I continued the Tropical Paradise theme on the envelope as well:

Tropical Paradise Envelope

The flamingo on the left was stamped with the Tropical Paradise stamp set  HCPC-3783 and cut out with the matching die HCD1-7137.

The tag on the right, like the main card image, was cut directly from the paper pad, making this card and envelope a surprisingly quick and easy project to put together.

Thanks for visiting – I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Unity – Beauty In Everything

Unity's Beauty In Everything

Today’s project is a graduation card featuring this delightful image from Unity’s Beauty In Everything set.  The sentiment is from another Unity set, Capture Your Dreams.  The frame behind the main image was die-cut from Spellbinders A2 Devine Elequence Frame Card Creator set, #S5-218.

My usual go-to coloring medium is Copic markers, but I recently purchased the Chameleon Colored Pencils, and I used them to color this image along with some odorless Gamsol to blend out the colors.

For the dress, I used 13-01 Cobalt Blue, 13-02 Midnight Blue, and 14-02 Electric Blue. 04-02 Spice was used for the hair and 06-02 Light Coral for the skin. The sky was colored with 15-01 Powder Blue and 15-02 Wedgewood Blue although the colors don’t show up very well in this photo.

The side of the plateau was colored with 04-02 Spice, 05-01 Mocha, and a little 24-02 Cool Gray for shading. I went really crazy with the grassy areas and used 19-02 Clover, 20-01 Cactus Green, 20-02 Summer Leaf, 18-02 Jade, and 17-02 Pine with a little 04-02 Spice thrown in for good measure!

I didn’t have a smaller die to match the Devine Eloquence Frame, so I simply turned my colored image over and traced the center portion of the frame die with pencil then cut it out by hand.

Salty Ocean Distress Ink was used to highlight the edges of this piece–and to disguise my cutting imperfections! LOL

As you can see, I opted to go with a more simple design for the inside of the card.

I cut the Neat and Tangled Scalloped Cover Plate from black card stock then backed it with a piece of patterned paper, adhering this panel with foam squares to another piece of patterned paper. The two sentiments were stamped on Gina K. Designs Pure Luxury Base Weight White Card Stock and matted on black card stock.  Color was added with Salty Ocean Distress Ink . . .

Grad Inside

I just love this sentiment stamp, Life was meant for a great Adventure from Stampers Anonymous. I think it would work equally well for someone starting a new job, retiring, or even as a wedding sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project – make it a crafty week everyone!

Tropical Paradise Birthday

front-closed.jpg

Since I haven’t posted in awhile, I thought I would do another quick post today.

This is a birthday card I made using the Heartfelt Creations Tropical Paradise papers, stamps, and dies.  Love the colors and images of this set!

Although the flowers on the front were actually made with stamps and dies from Heartfelt Creations Classic Rose Collection, I did stamp them on paper from the Tropical Paradise collection and shaded with Memento inks.

Here is the back of the card when closed:

The card base is a Heartfelt Creations 5″ x 7″ white foldout card.   Below is the inside and outside with the card fully open:

And here are some closeups of the individual panels:

The parrot and cockatoo were colored with Copic markers.  I didn’t like how the back of the cockatoo appeared from the backside, so I added a die-cut circle to represent the sun and colored both sides with Memento Cantaloupe ink and Kaleidacolor Desert Heat ink pad.  (And added a die-cut dragonfly so the back side wouldn’t look so plain!)

Other products used on the card include Memory Box dies: 99229 Garland Greenery, 99751 Little Dragonflies, and 99461 Wildflower Landscape; Sizzix 656515 Dragonfly; and Elizabeth Craft Designs dies: Leafy Branch 5, Pair of Leaves 1, and Celebrate.

Thanks for visiting – have a great rest of the holiday weekend everyone!

Wild Adventure Birthday Card

Front

Today’s project is a card I made for my son’s 21st birthday last month.  It features the Tim Holtz Cityscapes stamps by Stampers Anonymous on the front.  The arrow dies are from Elizabeth Craft Designs and the words are Reverse Confetti dies.  The birds in flight stamp is from Stampscapes.

Below is what you see when you flip the front flap up:

The Dream flap pulls down to reveal the inside with more images from the Cityscapes set, a Lili of the Valley stamp (Toot Toot!), more Elizabeth Craft Designs arrows and a Sizzix Happy Birthday To You die-cut:

And here is a view of the back side of the card:

The background on the Cityscapes panels was colored with Stampin’ Up inks Soft Sky, Marina Mist, Pacific Point, Dapper Denim, and Night of Navy.  Highlights and “stars” were added with a white gel pen.  I colored the Toot Toot! stamp image and some of the arrows with Chameleon Colored Pencils.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project–let’s make it a crafty week!

Unity – Thank You Kindly

Graphic 45 Midnight Masquerade

Masquerade Card

This fun shaker card was made with Graphic 45’s Midnight Masquerade 8 x 8 paper pad and die-cut embellishments. And don’t let the shaker portion of the card daunt you.  With products from Queen and Co., it was almost “magical” the way this card came together!

Below is a peek at the inside of the card:

Of course, the card was so much fun to make, I couldn’t stop there, so I made a matching tag to go with it:

I hope you enjoyed today’s projects and will give them a try for yourself!  Make it a crafty week everyone!
