With Heartfelt Sympathy

Sympathy

I find making Sympathy cards can be especially tough because of the emotions you are experiencing at this time, and yet the level of personalization you can achieve with a handmade card simply can’t be matched by the normal offerings found in most stores.

The main image on the front of today’s card is Country Landscape by Magenta.  The text stamps and inside tree image are from the Stampin’ Up sets Heartfelt Sympathy and In The Meadow.  The bird and deer silhouette images inside the card are from Penny Black’s Nature’s Friends set.

I sponged on the following Stampin’ Up inks to color the background on the front image: Marina Mist, Pool Party, Pacific Point, Dapper Denim, Night of Navy, Pear Pizzaz, and Old Olive.  All images and text were stamped with Stampin’ Up’s Basic Black. (My Misti stamping tool made stamping the images a breeze!)

Sympathy cards can be challenging emotionally, but will surely bring great comfort to the recipient.

Wildwood Cottage Shaker Card

Wildwood Cottage Shaker

This fun birthday shaker card features papers from the Heartfelt Creations Wildwood Cottage collection.  I love that the paper packs have 2 of each design. This allowed me to cut out certain elements, such as the fairy, from the second sheet and foam tape it in place to create more dimension and interest.

I also stamped, colored, and die-cut some of the vines and flowers from this set and glued them on the roof and side of the house and in the lower left corner. And of course, I had to add some glitter and beads just for the fun of it!

The shaker element features products from Queen and Company’s Pop Ups Heart and Heart Throb shaker kits.

The inside of the card features more Heartfelt Creations Wildwood Cottage paper as well as a cute hummingbird from their Botanic Orchid papers:

I hope you liked today’s card, and if you haven’t made a shaker card yet, you really should give it a try!

The image was colored with Copic Markers – I followed the free color map download that came with the stamp purchase from Stamping Bella.  Colors used were: BG0000, BG10, BG11, E33, E35, E57, E44, E47, E49, RV13, RV14, RV17, R30, R32, Y15, Y19, Y38, W5, W7, and W10.

The 5″ x 7″ card base was made from Gina K. Designs Blue Denim card stock.  I adhered a 4-3/4″ x 6-3/4″ piece of patterned paper from Doodlebug Designs Frosty Friends collection to the base, then I cut the background frame out of black card stock with Spellbinders Card Creator A2 Devine Eloquence die, #S5-218. I used a slightly smaller Spellbinders Labels 28 die to cut out the image and inked the edges with Wilted Violet Distress Ink.  I adhered the image to the frame then adhered this entire piece to the card.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project–make it a crafty week everyone!

Under the Sea Birthday Shaker Card

Shaker cards seem to be growing ever popular, so today’s project is a 6″ x 6″ shaker card I made with paper from the Heartfelt Creations Under The Sea collection and Queen and Company’s Pop Ups Circle Shaker set.

These Pop Ups shaker sets are great because not only do they include the pop-up foam frames in several sizes, but transparency and card stock back pieces in matching sizes!

I cut a 5-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ piece of paper from the Under The Sea collection and adhered it to my card front.

Next, without removing the protective covering from the adhesive, I placed the largest foam frame from the Pop Ups shaker set over the scene I had chosen from the Under The Sea paper pad and traced around it with a pencil. I cut this out and adhered it to my card front, then I removed the adhesive covering from one side of the foam frame and placed it over my scene.

I glued 3 silver heart sequins next to the sea horses, then added various beads and other sequins within the framed area.  After removing the protective covering from the top of the foam frame, I placed the largest transparency from the Pop Ups shaker set over it.

Using the largest die from Queen and Company’s Pop Up Circles Dies, I cut a frame from blue card stock and glued this on the top of the transparency piece. I cut out one of the Under The Sea turtles and glued that to the top of my shaker element.  Next I glued heart and star sequins in the corners.

I felt the card was just missing something yet, so I added three flowers made from the Heartfelt Creations Wildwood Cottage collection.  I colored them with Distress inks and added Krystallos Shard Glass Glitter to the edges and Frantage Fuchsia Glass Glitter to the centers.

The inside of the card features a sea horse, beta fish and coral border I cut from the Under The Sea paper.  (This collection has dies to match these and other elements in the paper, making cutting them out a breeze!)  I also chose a couple of word tags from the paper pack and adhered all of these elements onto another 5-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ piece of Under The Sea paper.

I cut down one of the 6″ x 6″ scenes to 5-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ then glued it to the back of the card. The text is from the Gina K. Designs By the Sea stamp set, and it was stamped in Peacock Feathers Distressed Ink. I finished the card with a small Under The Sea ticket tag near the bottom.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and have fun making a shaker card of your own!

From Our Home To Yours

jill-and-denny-2016-gift

My first post of 2017 features a fun and easy Christmas card I made.  For the front, I used the Poppy Stamps House in the Woods, #1654.  Inside, I used the Memory Box Deer in the Trees Silhouette, #99581.

I used the die as a stencil to add Blue Jeans Distress ink to color the deer.

I added patterned paper and stamped sentiments inside and out.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.  Make it a Crafty Week!

A Woodsy Wonderland Thank You

karen-thank-you-closed

I made this fun Thank You card with papers, stamps, and dies from the Heartfelt Creations Woodsy Wonderland Collection and one of the Heartfelt Creations 6″ x 6″ White Foldout Card Bases (Product ID #HCCF1-445-2).  The Thank You die comes from the Heartfelt Creations Elegant Border Basics Dies (Product ID #HCD1-7121).  I also used dies from the Heartfelt Creations Fleur Border Basics Die Set (Product ID #HCD1-7120) and Heartfelt Creations Regal Borders and Pockets Die Set (Product ID #HCD1-779).

I stamped and die-cut some of the deer and trees then colored them with various Memento inks and matching Memento markers.  I used foam dots to add dimension to the deer and trees on the front of the card.

A great video tutorial (and the inspiration for my card) can be found here.
