Under the Sea Birthday Shaker Card

undertheseashakercard

Shaker cards seem to be growing ever popular, so today’s project is a 6″ x 6″ shaker card I made with paper from the Heartfelt Creations Under The Sea collection and Queen and Company’s Pop Ups Circle Shaker set.

These Pop Ups shaker sets are great because not only do they include the pop-up foam frames in several sizes, but transparency and card stock back pieces in matching sizes!

I cut a 5-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ piece of paper from the Under The Sea collection and adhered it to my card front.

Next, without removing the protective covering from the adhesive, I placed the largest foam frame from the Pop Ups shaker set over the scene I had chosen from the Under The Sea paper pad and traced around it with a pencil. I cut this out and adhered it to my card front, then I removed the adhesive covering from one side of the foam frame and placed it over my scene.

I glued 3 silver heart sequins next to the sea horses, then added various beads and other sequins within the framed area.  After removing the protective covering from the top of the foam frame, I placed the largest transparency from the Pop Ups shaker set over it.

Using the largest die from Queen and Company’s Pop Up Circles Dies, I cut a frame from blue card stock and glued this on the top of the transparency piece. I cut out one of the Under The Sea turtles and glued that to the top of my shaker element.  Next I glued heart and star sequins in the corners.

I felt the card was just missing something yet, so I added three flowers made from the Heartfelt Creations Wildwood Cottage collection.  I colored them with Distress inks and added Krystallos Shard Glass Glitter to the edges and Frantage Fuchsia Glass Glitter to the centers.

The inside of the card features a sea horse, beta fish and coral border I cut from the Under The Sea paper.  (This collection has dies to match these and other elements in the paper, making cutting them out a breeze!)  I also chose a couple of word tags from the paper pack and adhered all of these elements onto another 5-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ piece of Under The Sea paper.

I cut down one of the 6″ x 6″ scenes to 5-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ then glued it to the back of the card. The text is from the Gina K. Designs By the Sea stamp set, and it was stamped in Peacock Feathers Distressed Ink. I finished the card with a small Under The Sea ticket tag near the bottom.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and have fun making a shaker card of your own!

Under the Sea Best Wishes

Betsy 2016 Farewell

This great Best Wishes card was made with components from the Heartfelt Creations card kit package for the Under the Sea collection and a few other items from my “stash.”

I can’t say enough good things about the kits Heartfelt Creations has started producing for their collections. Not sure if you want to invest in the various stamps and dies of a collection?  These kits are a great introduction to the types of projects you could create. Their only downfall, in my opinion, is that they are only available for a limited time–just during the initial release month of that particular collection or while supplies last.  (Some of the kits have been known to sell out within just a couple of days of their release!)

The kits come complete with enough card blanks, die-cuts, pre-cut patterned paper, and stamped elements to make at least four cards. Use your favorite coloring medium and adhesive to complete the projects, and you are good to go! All levels of cardmakers, from beginner to expert, can produce beautiful results with these kits in a very short amount of time. It’s no wonder they sell out so quickly!

For this particular card, I used Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and Memento Cantaloupe, Blue Danube, and Bamboo Leaves to color the flowers and leaves. Cantaloupe, Blue Danube, Teal Zeal, and Picked Raspberry were used on the fish. (I blended the Picked Raspberry and Cantaloupe to create the peachy/coral color on the tip of the tail. “Gourd-Jus” Prills (also available from Heartfelt Creations in the Rock N’ Roll set) were added to the centers and stamen of the flowers with glue, and I also added glitter to the tips of the flower petals for a little extra bling.

The inside of the card was completed with a piece cut from the Under the Sea Collection paper pack and the Life is Art stamp from Stampendous.

Hope you enjoyed today’s project!

Hummingbird Graduation Card

Amy E 2016 grad

This is a very simple, one-layered graduation card I made.  The hummingbird flower stamp is #97077 by Inkadinkado (purchased at our local Hobby Lobby store) and was colored with Distress Inks: Shaded Lilac, Picked Raspberry, Forest Moss, Broken China, and Peacock Feathers; and Memento Inks: Bamboo Leaves and Blue Danube.  Broken China was used to add background color around the edges.

The inside message is the Life Is Art stamp from Stampendous – #Y025.  The patterned paper inside the card is from the Heartfelt Creations Under the Sea Collection.

Under the Sea & Steampunk Birthday

Sarah 2016 BD

Sarah 2016 BD inside

This birthday card was made with papers and stamps from the Heartfelt Creations Under the Sea Collection.  I really LOVE the cute fish and other sea-life from this set as well as the Hibiscus flowers!  The paper collection comes with all of these wonderful scenes already created and colored for you. The only stamping and cutting I did on this card was the flowers on the front.  They were colored with Picked Raspberry and Blue Lagoon Distress Inks as well as Memento Cantaloupe.

Sarah 2016 present3

For the present, I went Steampunk / Mixed Media.  The shadowbox frame is from Hobby Lobby.  The metal embellishments are from Michael’s.  The paper flowers were purchased in a pack from Crafts Direct, a local craft store in St. Cloud, MN.

The main image is the digi stamp Annabelle from Make It Crafty.  She was printed on Gina K. Designs 120 lb. white cardstock and colored with Copic markers.  I then tore a rough border around the edges of the image, coloring the background with Copic Markers and Distress Inks.

The shimmery color around the edges of the stamped piece was created with Finnabair Studios Art Ingredients Lilac and Blue Opal Magic Mica Powders that had been mixed with Finnabair Studios Art Basics Soft Gloss Gel.  Black gesso was applied to some of the metal embellishments and they were colored with the mica powder mixtures as well.

The flowers and leaves on the outside of the frame were made from Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies.  The flowers are from the Blazing Poppy Collection and the leaves are from the Peacock Paisley Collection.  They were colored with various Distress Inks.

I hope you enjoyed viewing today’s projects – they certainly were a lot of fun to create!

AI Wooden Gate Birthday Card

The front image is Art Impressions Wooden Gate 4762.  There is a great video tutorial here that I used for my inspiration. I used Marvy LePlume II markers for the water color portion: #8 (violet), #45 (sepia), #72 (pine green), #86 (African violet), #100 (sapphire blue). I also used Copic marker Y17 (golden yellow) for the beak on the bird that is standing on the ground. The bird perched on the gate is from Stamps by Judith and Heather, AAA-277 Chickadee.  It was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored with Marvy #45 sepia.  (I scribbled a little marker on an acrylic block and diluted it with a few drops of water, then used a damp paint brush to color the bird.)

The frame around the image was made with the largest die from Spellbinders A2 Fancy Weave Card Creator set.

The patterned paper is from the Heartfelt Creations Under the Sea collection.

Inside I used stamps from two Gina K. Designs sets: Vertical Greetings and Simply the Best.  The text was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the dragon flies and foliage in Peacock Feathers Distress ink.  The inside patterned paper is also from the Heartfelt Creations Under the Sea collection.

These mini water color sets from Art Impressions are great fun – you should try them for yourself!

Midsummer’s Night Tag Card

I made this Tag Card using two of the dies from Poppy Stamps Main Street Tags set, Style 1266. The stamp is Lili of the Valley’s Midsummer’s Night ST500.

I made a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ side-folded card from black cardstock and cut it out with the largest die from the tag set.  (I positioned the die just to the left of the folded edge so that the fold wouldn’t be cut off when I ran it through my Big Shot.)

I used the next largest die from the tag set to cut two tags from white cardstock. Both tags were edged with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.

The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on one of the tags and then colored with Copic Markers. Sky: B000, B00, B01. Stars and Moon: Y17, Y18. Mushrooms: R05, R08. Mushroom Stems: YR24, E15. Skin: E000, E00, E02. Hair: E25, E31, E34. Headband: YG06. Dress: RV52, RV55. Wings: BV02, BV13, V04. Stockings: YG21, YG23. Grass: YG61, YG63. Ground: W-2, W-3.

The inside tag was colored with Tumbled Glass, Broken China, and Faded Jeans Distress Inks. The sentiment is from the Mo Manning stamp set “Wiz.”

A Uni-ball Signo White Pigment pen was used to add “stars” to the sky inside and out.
